Weekly Newsletter

Summer Adult Movie Mondays will be offered on the first Monday’s of June, July and August.  Monday, June 4th will be our first movie at 5:30 p.m.  Join us in the Community Room for a free, recently released showing on our big screen.  Bring your own drink and popcorn.  Stop in to find out the titles of the movies to be shown all summer.

Summer Hours CHANGE:

We will have the same hours EXCEPT on TUES.  Tuesdays we will be open 10 am – 5 pm for the months of June, July, and August.  We will move back to our evening hours in the winter on Tues.

READING is SO DELICIOUS! 2012

  • Programs for children – Adults
    • June 4 – August 10  (some require pre-registration)
    • Read for prizes for children ages 3- Adult
      • No pre-sign up required – see library for details.
      • Children age 3 – 6th grade    June 4 – July 28th
        • Last day to turn in reading logs July 28
        • Prize pick up Aug 6-31
  • Teens/adults 6th grade – Adult
    • June 4 – June 30 and July 2 – July 31
    • Read any book, magazine or listen to an audiobook and receive a ticket to place in a drawing for a prize of your choice during June and/or July.  You may win a prize each month, but only one per month.

Week 1:

June 4:  Adult Movie Evening; 5:30 p.m. 1st Mondays, Community Room. 

Young Rembrandt Art Classes; 10:30 a.m. Basic drawing for ages 6-12,

sign up required 473-2313.

 Adult Book Club; 6:30 p.m.  Discussion of A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khale Husseini.

June 5:  Fancy Nancy Story time and Tea Party featuring The Zoo Lady; 10:30 a.m.

Geared for ages 3-7, but all are welcome to attend. Wear your favorite costume or superhero outfit. Sign up required-473-2313.

June 6:  All ages movie afternoon; 1 p.m.  Bring a friend and your own snack!

June 7:  Garden in a Glove; 2 p.m. Program geared for 3-6th grades, families welcome.

       Toddler Time; 6 p.m. Thursday. Toddler time is designed for

children 18 mo. -35 months. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

             Green Eggs & Ham, It’s Story Time!; 6:30 p.m. 

Story time for 3yr – 6 yr. olds.  Families welcome!

   June 8:   Tween/Teen Movie; 1 p.m. Friday. Bring a friend and your own snack!

   June 9:   Heyworth Hunger Games; 11 a.m. Jr./Sr. high youth can join

a race to the finish… Fun, Games, and Activities!

 Heyworth Public Library is excited to begin a LEGO Time program this summer.  LEGO Time will offer youth builders an opportunity to join together, create, and share inspiration.

  • We are asking for the community members to look through their closets and donate LEGOS their children have outgrown to help supplement our supplies.  You can drop off LEGOS at any time during regular hours. 
  • If you would like to make a monetary donation to help purchase new LEGOS or more LEGO reading materials we would welcome your support.

Monthly Genealogy and Local History meeting

Wed., June 20 at 10 am.  All are welcome to help preserve Randolph Township history.  Come join us as we organize the historical records, collect materials, and begin an oral history project.  If you have local history or genealogical items to donate please see Alice or Beth. You can view the current title holdings on our website under the Local History and Genealogy link.

Canine Reading Buddies Program

Do you have a reluctant reader or just have a student who would enjoy reading time with our reading therapy dog?  Sign up today for a fifteen minute session to read to Sasha the Reading Dog.  Sasha will visit the library every second Thursday beginning at 6 p.m.  Next Visit:  June 14 @ 6pm/6:20pm/6:40pm

The Secret World of Arriety and Chronicle are available this week. Our NEW DVD movies can be loaned for three nights for $1.00. All others are available for 7 nights for $1.00.
