Back to School will be here before you know it!  Do you have your back to school supply from your Heyworth Public Library? A library card!  Children and teens need to have their parent or guardian stop in the library to sign up for a library card.

Our summer reading programs have ended but the new books for fall are arriving daily.  If your child completed a summer reading log, please don’t forget to come into the library during the month of August to pick up their backpack of prizes.  Then look over all the new fall books!  We had 110 children complete reading logs this summer!

Upcoming Programs:

Monday Evening Book Club, 6:30 p.m.

August 26: Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand by Helen Simonson.  Stop by and get your copy today.  Large print and audiobook versions available as well.

Would you like start your own book club with friends or in your neighborhood?  We can help with book selection, and loan the books you will need for your group.  Stop by today and ask for details.

Family Story Time, each Thursday evening at 6:15 p.m.

The FUN BEGINS on September 12 and runs through October 24.

The program is designed for families of pre-k – 1st grade, but the whole family is encouraged to join us for 45 minutes of fun.  No sign up – just show up.

The Society for Creative Destruction, after-school program at 3:45 p.m. on September 17

Join us as we explore the art of another type of journaling.  Sign up is needed to have supplies ready.

Beginning Genealogy Workshop, October 15 at 6:30 p.m.

Interested in family history, but don’t know where to start?  Fascinated by old documents and photos? Curious about what countries your ancestors came from? Want to learn about a hobby that will enthrall you?  All ages are welcome.  Sign up is needed to have supplies ready.

Local History Club, fourth Fridays at 10:30 a.m.

October 25:  All interested in preserving Randolph Township history are welcome to attend in the library’s Community Room.  Whether you are new to the area or you’re a seasoned Randolph Township Local History expert, all are welcome to join us each month as we share and gather information.  Sign up is encouraged for our first meeting to have enough handouts ready.

DVD Movie titles out this week:

The Confession, The Adventures of Huck Finn (Disney), and Snitch are available this week. Our NEW DVD movies can be loaned for three nights for $1.00. All others are available for 7 nights for $1.00.

John is from Decatur, Illinois, and is the author of Best Tent Camping: Illinois, 2nd edition, published in 2018 by Menasha Ridge Press. Over the years he’s explored venues all across the state. He’ll present material from his book, as well as other outdoor guides he uses and recommends.
