Trick or Treat at the library on Thursday, October 30 from 5 – 8 p.m.  Come before, during, or after the Heyworth Halloween Parade!

We will again host the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) at the Heyworth Library on Friday, November 21.  LIHEAP representatives will be in the library to assist anyone that would like to apply from noon through 3:30 p.m.  Any questions regarding this program can be asked through Mid Central Community Action at 309-829-0691.

VOTER REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED FOR THE NOVEMBER 4 GENERAL ELECTION. The grace period has begun, effective October 8. You can still register to vote by going directly to the McLean County Clerk’s office at 115 E. Washington St., Room 102, Bloomington, IL; but if you wish to vote in the General Election, you must vote at the time you come in to register to vote or change your address.

The library will be open on Veteran’s day regular hours on November 11, 2014. Thank you to all who serve and have served our country and give us the freedom to read and view our choice of material.

Items we collect for our community:

  • Coupons for military families overseas
  • Gently used Hornet Shirts/Sweatshirts and gear
  • Box Tops for Education coupons
  • Coca-Cola Caps
  • HP ink cartridges

Items we are collecting for upcoming craft projects at the library:

  • Cereal Boxes – empty, clean, and not crushed
  • Pop can tabs
  • Fabric/Satin type Ribbon (all sizes)
  • Jute
  • Curling ribbon

Upcoming Programs:

Lego Block Party, November 4 at 3:45 p.m.

  • 1st Tuesday of each month
  • 1st – 8th graders

Knitting for Beginners, November 3, 17 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

  • 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month
  • 4th grade – adult
  • Must sign up due to limited space

Please bring:

  • 1 skein of your favorite color worsted weight wool or wool blend yarn.
  • 1 pair of needles: short, single-point, 8-10 inches long, plastic or wood, size 8, 9 or 10.
  • If you would like to wait until you pick your first project during the first class, we will have donated needles and yarn to use.

Anime Movie Saturdays, November 15 at 10:30 a.m.

  • 3rd Saturday of each month
  • Titles available in the library

Monday Evening Book Club, November 27

  • The Orchadist by Amanda Coplin
  • No meeting in December
  • Would you like start your own book club with a group of friends?  We can help with book selection and loan the books you will need for your group.  Stop by today and ask for details.

Friday Afterschool movies

  • 3:20 p.m. each Friday the library is open during the school year
  • Titles available in the library
  • Bring your own snack and drinks with a screw cap lid.

We have reached over 6K, with over 100 interested on social media, BUT it’s the sign up sheet in the library that guides whether we cancel a program. Please let us know if you are attending. 473-2323 Join us as John Schirle presents some of the fascinating and diverse places to explore in outdoor Illinois. John is from Decatur, Illinois, and is the author of Best Tent Camping: Illinois, 2nd edition, published in 2018 by Menasha Ridge Press. Over the years he’s explored venues all across the state. He’ll present material from his book, as well as other outdoor guides he uses and recommends.
