The check out limit for books is unlimited. The loan period is 3 weeks.
Downloadable eBooks, audio books, and music
eBooks and audio books can be checked out through Alliance Digital Media Library or eReadIllinois. Check out times are determined by the patron and can be anywhere from 1 week to 3 weeks. 5 eBooks or audio books may be checked out at a time from both the Alliance Digital Media Library and eReadIllinois.
Music can be downloaded through Freegal. 3 music downloads are allowed each week.
Over 80 magazine subscriptions
10 magazines may be checked out per patron for a loan period of 1 week.
Music CDs
10 CDs may be checked out per patron for a loan period of 1 week.
DVD rentals
3 New DVDs and 10 other DVDs may be checked out per patron. The rental for each DVD is $1.00. New DVDs may be checked out for a loan period of 3 days. All other DVDs may be checked out for 7 days. Items not returned by the due date will be charged a daily fine of $2 with a max fine of $6.
Youth and Adult audio books
10 audio books may be checked out per patron for a loan period of 3 weeks.
Cake Pans
3 cake pans per patron can be borrowed for 7 days. There will be a $5.00 late fee. Please do not return the pans in the outdoor drop boxes. Cake pans must be returned in clean condition. Baking instruction sheets can be printed for .15 per page for most pans. Complete checkout instructions will be provided upon checkout.
Copy and Fax machines
Copies are .15 per page for black and white copies and .50 per page for color copies.
It is $2.00 to send up to 4 pages by fax and .50 per page after 4 pages. It is .15 per page to receive a fax.
Hot lamination (credit card size)
Library cards and items of similar size can be laminated for $1.
AccuCut Die Cut machine
The library owns an AccuCut die cutting machine and several dies including a 7-inch alphabet, basic shapes, and many holiday and special shapes. You MUST provide your own paper or other materials and leave the die cutting area clean when you leave. If you have any questions, please call the library circulation desk for details.
Public Access Computer
There are two computers available for public use. Printers are available at each computer. (The use of the printer is .15 per page for black and white pages and .50 per page for color printing.) Internet access is available to Heyworth Public Library cardholders for free if they are fine-free. Otherwise it is $1.00 per hour and .50 for every half hour beyond the first hour. Users must sign the library’s Computer/Internet User Policy in order to use library internet access, and students 6th grade to age 17 must have written permission from a parent or guardian. Internet use is monitored and access will be denied if violations of the policy occur.
Free WiFi
Wireless access to the internet is available in the library. The password is posted in the building.
Online Catalog
The library’s catalog can be searched online through a link on the website. It may be used generically or the patron’s barcode and PIN can be entered to review their personal account.
Interlibrary loans
Patron’s can request materials from other libraries. Holds may be placed through the online catalog by the patron or a staff member can place the request. Materials are received from other libraries on Tuesday and Friday as they become available.
Genealogy records and local history
The library has a small collection of reference books, Heyworth memorabilia, and genealogical records. There is also a microfilm reader/printer available. Microfilm copies are .15 per page. Children in 8th grade and under must be accompanied by an adult.
Family Story Time
This reading program is held seasonally on Thursday evenings and is designed for preschool – 1st grade children, but all of the family is encouraged to join us for an enjoyable 45 minutes of family fun!

Movies @ the Library
Movies rated G or PG are shown every Friday at 3:20. You may call or come in to find out the movie titles that are scheduled. Drinks with a screw-cap lid and a non-messy snack are allowed.
