Reading for Prizes

Kids will receive a book bag and a button when they sign up to read for prizes. A reading log will be provided to record minutes or books read. For every level completed, collect a button, a prize, and three tickets to put into a prize drawing.

Prizes earned with the reading log will be given out beginning June 16. The last day to collect reading prizes is August 8.

Teen readers will receive a bingo challenge to record books read and other activities. Collect a small prize for the first three bingos completed. For each bingo, collect a ticket to put into a prize drawing.

For each book, audiobook, magazine, or eBook checked out, collect a ticket to put into a prize drawing.

Programs and events sponsored by Heyworth Public Library may be recorded through photographs or video. Please notify a library staff member if you or your family members do not want to be photographed.

Registration is required for all events and will open Monday, May 19, at 10:00 a.m. Registration can be completed online using the links below or on the calendar page, by calling 309.473.2313, or by visiting the Circulation Desk at the Library and registering in person.

ANIMALS AROUND THE WORLD with Rico the Sloth

Friday, June 20, 12:30 p.m. – Meet a variety of animals from around the world, including snakes, bats, turtles, parrots, and much more!

DAN GOGH’S MAGIC ART SHOW

Friday, June 27, 2:30 p.m. – Artist-Magician Dan Gogh uses comedy, magic, and art to unlock the mystery of creativity. Dan will be your guide to wacky colors, magical drawings, and art tools that have a mind of their own.

ADA’S VIOLIN WITH ECOLOGY ACTION CENTER

Monday, June 30, 2:00 p.m. – Hear the true story of the children of Cateura, Paraguay and how they took trash from their town’s landfill and made musical instruments which they play in concerts all over the world. Children will make their own instruments from recycled materials.
