Change my PIN number?

You are assigned a PIN number when you apply for a library card. Your PIN provides online access to your library account and digital services and apps. If you have questions about your PIN, ask a staff member at the circulation desk on your next visit, call 309-473-2313, or email [email protected].

Check out material if I can’t find my library card?

You may use a valid photo ID to check out. However, if your card is lost or stolen, the Library should be notified as soon as possible by phone at 309-473-2313 or in person.  Cardholders are responsible for all materials checked out on the card until the card is reported lost or stolen. Once a card is reported lost or stolen, the card and account is blocked immediately so that no one can use it. The library charges a fee of $2.00 to replace a lost card.

Get a library card?

If you reside in Heyworth Public Library District, you have already paid for your library card through property taxes, either as a homeowner or a renter.

When you come into the library, bring in a photo ID and a proof of address. If your state-issued ID shows your current address, that is all you need. Otherwise, bring in a photo ID and a printed or digital copy of a bank statement, utility bill, apartment lease, etc.

Children (3 – 18) can receive a library card with a parent or legal guardian who also has a library card.

Your Heyworth Public Library card is valid for three years and must be renewed in person.

There is a $2 replacement fee for lost cards.

Get a library card if I don’t live in Heyworth Public Library District and do not pay property taxes to another library district?

If you live in an area that does not have access to public library service, you may be eligible to purchase a non-resident library card from the Heyworth Public Library District. A non-resident card must be purchased from the public library closest to the patron’s home address. Your non-resident card is good at most libraries in Illinois. In lieu of a tax rate assessment of your property value, out-of-district borrowers pay a fee of $122 for one year.

Get a text reminder about items due?

Keep up-to-date with your library account activity on your mobile phone via text message.  Receive text notices about: holds that are available, items that are due in the next three days, overdue items, and fines that are added to your account.

Reserve a meeting room?

To request availability of the meeting room, please print and fill out the last page of the Meeting Room Policy and return the form to the library or send it to the Director via email at [email protected].

Reserve an item that isn’t available at the library?

Heyworth Public Library shares materials with area libraries to make it easier to get you what you want.  Whether you are looking for an item at Heyworth Public Library that is checked out or you are looking for an item that the library doesn’t own, you may reserve the material by placing a hold on it.  You will receive an email or a phone call when the material is available for you to checkout. Once an item is received, the Library will hold it for 10 days.

Occasionally, you will look for an item that is not owned by Heyworth Public Library or an area library.  As a free service to patrons living in Heyworth Public Library District, the library staff will search all libraries in Illinois in an attempt to locate and request the item for you.  A request may be made in person, by phone at (309)473-2313, or by emailing [email protected].

Each patron is allowed to place 25 holds using our website or the RSAcat Mobile app.  If you need to place more holds, please contact the library.
