Miscellaneous Tools

Autodesk Homestyler

Redecorating or remodeling your home is a lot of work.  It helps if you start with a good plan, but it can be hard to visualize everything in different places.  This tool lets you build a 3-D model of your home.  You can then fill it with furniture and decorations.  You can move walls around.  When you’re done, fly through the model to see how you like it.

Bender Converter

The web has revolutionized the way we make and consume video.  More video is stored on YouTube than ever existed before the site and you can watch it all online, but maybe you would like to download your favorites.  You could watch them online or carry them on an iPod.  This site will convert YouTube videos to the  proper format.  You can download them to your computer.

Bing Translator

If you run into a foreign-language site on the web, grap the URL and head here.  Bing can translate between dozens of languages.

Free OCR

This is a free online Optical Character Recognition tool.  Don’t have a scanner?  Take a photo of a document and upload it to the site.  It will extract the text.  You can paste it into a new file for editing.

Paper Rater

You want your writing to look its best.  It could be a college research paper or a business report.  It always helps to have someone else look it over, but you don’t always have someone to be your proofer.  That’s where Paper Rater comes in.  It will check your grammar and style.  It also tests for signs of plagiarism.

Put articles, videos or pretty much anything into Pocket.

On your iPhone or Android phone, open your web browser and go to the following link: rmd.at/hpld Follow the instructions to sign up for Remind. You’ll be prompted to download the mobile app. If you don’t have a smartphone, get text notifications. Text the message @hpld to the number 81010. Have you picked up your copy of The Crucible by Arthur Miller? Ann is a direct descendant of two persons accused of being witches executed during the Salem Witch Trials of 1692. She also had a third relative who was condemned but not hanged. One of these descendants was Rebecca Towne Nurse, a character in Arthur Miller's play, The Crucible. Join the Heyworth Public Library in reading The Crucible in October and hearing Ann's fascinating family study. Multiple copies will be available for checkout during October at the circulation desk.
Fall Animals y’all is the topic tonight at Family Storytime. Be sure to sign up as this program is popular and supplies are limited to 25.
